Taras W. Rohatyn
Taras W. Rohatyn is the president of the newly-formed Alzheimer's Foundation for Caregiving in Canada Inc., headquartered in Richmond Hill, (Greater Toronto Area), Ontario.
Mr. Rohatyn brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and strong advocacy to the inaugural position.
Previously, over the course of 12 years, he successfully led the Association for Persons with Physical Disabilities of Windsor and Essex County, a regional Provincial transfer payment agency that specializes in providing residential and vocational services to adults with physical and other disabilities. Under his tenure, the association was transformed from a small, narrowly-focused agency to a multifaceted organization offering a broad scope of services and various independent living options.
Mr. Rohatyn also spent numerous years in the banking and corporate credit field and was a regional director for Ontario's Workplace Safety & Insurance Board. A community activist, he has held many volunteer positions in service provision organizations related to Ontario's children and youth, and on other national, regional and local boards of directors and their committees. He also was a founding member of the Community Advocacy Council, an active member with the Windsor Chamber of Commerce and Windsor Rotary (1918) and the co-founder of the Ukrainian Barvinok Dance School and Ensemble, and he continues his involvement in the UNF of Canada.
Mr. Rohatyn was the recipient of the prestigious Ontario Medical Society Community Service Award in 2002.
